Vintage Nostalgy

For our Look this month, our design team have gone for a splash of vintage in their styling and accessorising. Using vintage design furniture, accessories and patterns they have combined different textured fabrics ; satins, wool and tapestry. The room has been given a retro-vintage look with a modern twist. The contemporary forms of the sofa and the fauteuil contrasts and complements the retro style of cupboard and carpet. Tapestry styled floral pattern Clemence and retro styled leaves patterns of Orovada on the curtain add to the nostalgic vibe.

Colour Palette:

The colour inspiration in this look comes from the approaching autumn – various tones of orange/terra and brown are the primary colours, accented with gold. The light and dark blue colours on the patterns on the carpet add a touch of retro in the look.

Modern vintage is in

Modern vintage style in interior is very popular.  Whether it is the bigger furniture or the smaller accessories, combine them with contemporary designs to create a modern-vintage look. Add your own personal touch by choosing the right dose of nostalgy in your interior.

Go for statement patterns

Use statement vintage patterns like floral or geometric patterns. Combine the patterns with complementing, layered colours to blend in with the rest of the room while remaining an eye catcher.

Accessorise tastefully

Use a few vintage styled pieces that elevate the style and keep it clean to avoid ending up with an overcrowded, cluttered feel. Reupholstering an old piece of furniture, a new coat of paint on cupboards or visiting vintage markets or shops are ways to give old items a new life in a modern vintage twist.
